James Paul Joins the EBLG Team
August 15, 2018 | New Attorney Brings Over 30 Years of Benefits Experience
Employee Benefits Law Group (EBLG) is excited to add Jim Paul to its talented team of attorneys and experts. Jim joins five other shareholders on the team. He most recently ran his own benefits law practice.
Jim has worked on employee benefit plans with employers, plan sponsors, governmental agencies and other clients. He is an expert on myriad benefits topics, including 401(k) plan compliance and corrections, executive deferred compensation, benefits issues in mergers and acquisitions and fiduciary issues.
“We’re thrilled to add Jim,” said EBLG Shareholder Kevin Long. “Like us, he’s built his career providing clear counsel and advice to help clients solve benefits problems, enhance their bottom lines and retain their best employees.”
Jim has received numerous accolades over his career, including being named one of Sacramento Magazine’s top lawyers each of the past two years. He is a member of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC) and the Leadership Council for the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA), serving as co-chair of ASPPA’s Government Affairs Committee. Jim also serves on the board of directors for KVIE Public Television.

Jim earned his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and his B.S. in business economics from Colorado State University. He will work out of EBLG’s Sacramento office.

Presenting the WP&BC’s Annual Legislative Update

Marcel Weiland presented the 2018 Legislative & Regulatory Update at the Sacramento chapter of the Western Pension & Benefits Council meeting. This was Marcel’s 19th year of doing the chapter’s Legislative & Regulatory Update. He started in the last year of Bill Clinton’s presidency.
